What We Believe

What we believe...

The people who worship and serve together at Chesterton United Methodist Church believe God's love is for everyone.

We believe in the power of forgiveness.

We believe Jesus' life, death and victory over death

is a triumph for every human being who chooses to accept Jesus' commitment to individual redemption.

We believe every life has the possibility of salvation and new hope.  We believe God goes with each of us in Spirit.

We believe by living our beliefs, together we can make

a difference in our community.

We believe God is with you.

We Believe in Jesus

We believe that Jesus Christ is God incarnate, fully God and fully man.

We believe Jesus gave His life that we might understand and draw close to God.

We believe Jesus teaches of love and forgiveness.

We believe Jesus has the authority and capability to forgive and redeem every human life.

We believe anyone who chooses to accept Jesus as the savior and redeemer of their life is loved,

forgiven and redeemed in return.

We Believe in The Holy Spirit

We believe the Holy Spirit is God's gift to humanity.

We believe the Holy Spirit lives in all who choose to live their lives submitted to God.

We believe the Holy Spirit helps us talk to and understand God, which helps us live as God calls us to live.

We believe the Holy Spirit empowers and equips us for ministry of all kinds.

We believe in the gifts of the Holy Spirit as described in the New Testament.

We beileve the Holy Spirit is relevant and active in our world today.

We Believe in Salvation

We believe salvation is the gift of forgiveness and then redemption which Jesus offers.

We believe redemption means we are forgiven right here, right now.

As a part of our redemption, we are promised eternal life in our future.

We believe that salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone.

No ritual, work, or any other activity is required in order to be saved.

One has only to believe that Jesus has the ability to love,
forgive and redeem us and then to choose to let Jesus do that for you.

We believe that all the redeemed are kept by God’s power and are thus secure in Christ forever.
